Mistral / Tramontane
- State and describe the negative and positive effect of these winds patterns on the vineyard.
Positive
- The winds can aerate the vineyards reducing the risk of disease pressure such as mildew and rot.
Negative
- The winds can be powerful and can cause extensive damage to the vineyards.
- Look at the wine below. Name the major grape variety of this wine.

Mourvedre
- Why this gape variety is well suited to this AOC?
Mourvedre is late ripening and prefers warmer site. It can reliably ripen on the warm south facing terraced slope.
- Describe the likely style of this wine.
- It will be dark, full bodied with powerful tannins.
- It will show bramble, meat and licorice note as it is bottle aged.
